Investor Newsletter November 2022
Firstly , I hope you and your families are well, and are enjoying some sense of normality, post Covid.
When I look back at 2022, I notice that a mixture of unfortunate events have occured. Interest rate rises emerged in late January, the Ukrainian/ Russian war commenced in February and is still raging, and as a consequence, inflation took off from nowhere to get to circa 9%, levelling off in some regions only in the last few weeks. The result is higher costs for energy in the main and consumers are seeing this evidence in their utility bills of recent weeks.
Back in our September 2019 Newsletter, we highlighted the ever important subject of Sustainable Investing which is directly linked to Environment and Climate change. Recent research by the University of Exeter, University of East Anglia, Centre for International Research and Ludwig-Maximilian University Munich have produced valuable information around Global carbon emissions, which, unfortunately, highlights China, the USA and India, as the principal emitter nations. The leaders of the richer countries of the world have convened since the 6th of this month for two weeks at the 2022 United Nations Climate Conference in Sharm El- Sheikh, Egypt to discuss and to commit funding for the poorer countries. Hopefully, this conference will lead to a change in mindset of everyone, if we are to save our planet.
Earlier this year, we were joined by a former colleague to enhance and develop our Corporate Pension Advisory offering and technical excellence in light of the pension changing landscape, in particular with the implementation of IORPS II. We are enthused by the opportunity to be in a position to advise and assist our existing Corporate clients along with those whom we are in discussions. We hope to be in a position to announce some further senior appointments by the start of 2023.
We remain committed to serving our clients’ best interests , with care, respect, trust & integrity through teamwork & excellence. That commitment would not be possible without the dedication of the Provest team.
We hope that the articles addressed in this current Newsletter stimulate and provoke discussion and would encourage you to contact us if we can be of assistance in any way on 021 2010123 or info@provest.ie
